Miles of DisComfort Marathon

EVENT CANCELED

The STORM Board of Directors has decided to cancel the 2021 STORM Miles of DisComfort MTB Marathon race scheduled for Jan 30, 2021. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. After long, careful, and sometimes agonizing consideration we decided the potential health and safety risks to the TMBRA community, volunteers, and event staff as well as the impact to our already overtaxed healthcare systems in Kendall and Bexar counties would be too much. We had opened registration in hopes there may have been a downturn in COVID-19 cases and hospital admissions, but the trend after the holidays has continued to rise with no evidence of diminishing soon. We look forward, as we are sure all of you do, to a return to some sort of normalcy when we can go back to a pre-pandemic race series schedule. BikeReg will be refunding registration fees in the next few days for those who have already registered.

JANUARY 30, 2021

Think you got the legs for this one? Endurance is the name of the game as participants compete to finish two full laps of Flat Rock Ranch (Upper and Lower loops x2) for some sweet singletrack goodness. If that seems like too much, we also have half-distance categories as well. This is the final race of the Texas Mountain Bike Marathon State Championship Series.

4) Stay at home if sick
5) Get tested if you show symptoms

COVID-19 Waiver:
A COVID-19 waiver that identifies the participant as meeting all participatory requirements with regards to symptoms and proximity to possibly infected persons. To be available for agreement online.

TEMPERATURE CHECKS WILL BE CONDUCTED UPON ENTRY TO THE RANCH.  IF ANYONE IN THE CAR HAS A FEVER OF 99.5 DEGREES OR HIGHER, THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WILL BE REQUIRED TO LEAVE THE PROPERTY.

Self-Screen before going to an outdoor event for any of the following new or worsening signs or symptoms of possible COVID-19:

This will take less than a minute to do and we will establish 6 feet of distance in the line leading to the temperature check station. At a temp of 99.5 or higher, the participant would be considered symptomatic and would not race (everyone with 99.4 or lower can participate).

NO onsite registration.

START
Small group starts – waves of 10 riders max with a start grid of spaces where they would be 6 feet or more apart. Organized fastest to slowest to minimize passing.

Racers will arrive to the start grid with masks on – take them off 30 seconds prior to start.

Results Posting
Race results will be online for those that would like to check or contest results. We will let the racers know that in one of the pre-race emails and continue to announce it throughout the day.

Awards Ceremony
Awards Pickup – one every 5 minutes. 0ne racer at a time to stand on the podium. This is done to prevent a crowd from gathering.

Feed/Tech Zones:
