The annual STORM / IMBA Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day (TKMBD) is scheduled for October 5th, 2019. See the Events calendar for more details.
While STORM hosts the STORM Kidz ride on the first Saturday of every month year-round, October 5th will be particularly important as we will be partnering with the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) to host the Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day (TKMBD) event in conjunction with other mountain biking organizations across the country.
In addition to new trail riders – young and old — there will be many middle school and high school aged student athletes from the local NICA Two10 MTB Racing teams, bicycle shop-sponsored teams, and youth development teams in attendance. Giving these children and student athletes the opportunity to ride and practice on the trails that STORM builds and maintains in McAllister Park is part of what STORM is all about. Since 2008, STORM has held an MOU with the City to develop and maintain natural surface trails in many City of San Antonio parks and linear creekways. This is a wonderful opportunity to see the value of natural surface trails in our community and the enjoyment that your constituents experience through the opportunities you and we collectively provide them.

A little background on IMBA TKMBD
IMBA Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day (TKMBD) is an annual event that seeks to introduce the joy of mountain biking to the next generation. Created in 2004 and recognized by the U.S. Congress, TKMBD is officially celebrated every year on the first Saturday in October.
More than 100,000 youth have discovered and celebrated the joy of pedaling two wheels on dirt at TKMBD events, and many have gone on to become passionate riders, volunteer trail advocates, and even high school mountain bike racers.
Events can be hosted by almost anyone in any country. Participating groups include IMBA Local partners and affiliated mountain bike clubs, community organizations, scouting groups, youth programs, schools and others. Or, simply gather your family, friends and coworkers to host your own, backyard ride. Every #mountainbiker is invited to participate!
