Why join STORM?

Want more and better mountain bike trails in San Antonio? So do we. South Texas Off Road Mountain-Bikers (STORM) is your local mountain bike and trail advocacy 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We build new trails and improve existing ones. We build relationships with landowners and the City of San Antonio to increase access to trails. We host mountain bike races, and we hold group rides to get more people on mountain bikes, including specific rides and clinics for women and kids. We represent the mountain bike community in countless forums to protect the trails we have and advocate for new ones.

What is that worth to you?

If you love to ride mountain bikes as much as we do, please consider joining STORM. For less than $0.11/day (basic $39/year membership) or less than $0.17/day ($5/month membership), you can help ensure success.

The more members STORM has, the more powerful our collective voice and the bigger and better we can grow the mountain bike scene in the San Antonio area.

Here is some of what we accomplished in 2019:

  • STORM hosted 54 trail work opportunities resulting in over 811 volunteer hours equaling over $20,000 in sweat equity during trail building and trail maintenance activities.
  • STORM built five new trails (over 2.5 miles) in the Devil’s Den area of Leon Creek Greenway near the Ingram Transit Center Trail Head.
  • STORM worked with the Friends of McAllister Park (FOMP) to secure bond money for the construction of an asphalt pump track and MTB skills course at McAllister Park (coming in 2020).
  • STORM is completing a collaborative design process with San Antonio Parks & Recreation for a MTB-only trail system in the new Classen-Steubing Park in northern San Antonio (opening late 2020/early 2021).
  • STORM continues to maintain the trails you love to ride through year-round trail maintenance efforts.
  • STORM hosts an area along the linear creekways every year during Basura Bash.
  • STORM represented the MTB community at the monthly Parks & Recreation Board meetings, Linear Creekway Parks Advisory Board (LCPAB) meetings, Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (AAMPO) Bicycle Mobility Advisory Committee (BMAC) meetings, Parks & Recreation public community input meetings, and other meetings as they occurred.
